I love The Sixties music. I wrote the cult classic Swami by The William Penn Fyve and is valued, as a 45, at $450.00 per single. We have been bootlegged all over the place. Being part of the Palo Alto scene, back then, I have played and jammed with all kinds of people including Gregg Rolie, Jerry Garcia, Mickey Hart. This music is an eclectic collection of original rock songs. Variety of influences from Brit Pop to Country to Funk to just plain scary. Good melodies with harmonies and great beats. Just what you'd expect from Mike Shapiro.
NOTES
Get some real 60s music by a real 60s guy. This is Mike Shapiro's second CD of great music for Baby Boomers and kids that like 60s music. Just listen to a little of each song and I am sure you will like it. Mike was the lead guitarist and Songwriter for William Penn and His Pals, during the 60s and wrote the music for the cult classic, Swami, of Pebbles fame.

I am a rocker. I love The Beatles, Who and American Rock And Roll
NOTES
You Can Count On Me is kind of a cross between The Who and Lynyrd Skynyrd for the guitar parts. The Harmonies are definitely
Who style. It is pretty original but familiar at the same time.

Released 2014

My music is derivative of the Sixties as those were my formative years.
NOTES
I have been writing and performing my songs for many years. I feel like I am really onto something with my
Pseudo Sixties style. I especially like the British Invasion Music. Twenty Minutes Past Wednesday sounds a lot
like Cream. I really nailed a Clapton type solo. The song also has an organ part reminiscent of the Alan Price in the
Animals. I really like this song and had a lot of fun creating it.

This song gives me a chance to really show what I can do with a Freddie King song. Backed up by a great drummer, Marlon Green, and a great Bassist, Raymond Kinman, made it easy to do a great job on this fantastic groove.
NOTES
I have been playing guitar for about 50 years and finally am getting it down. I took a wrong turn somewhere but am on track and In The Open.

This song is all over the place. It has a little of country feel, lyric wise, but it is a hard rocker with 3 part harmonies and a huge signature guitar riff. I like it.
NOTES
Recording my songs is a passion of mine. I had early success and wrote the cult classic Swami by William Penn and His Pals. This song is a real rocker so hold on when you listen to it.

Rock and Blues with a touch of melody would be accurate for my style.
NOTES
My music is all over the place. I love Blues, Rock, British Pop. I studied classical music for a year in college and
it helped me make musical sense out of ideas I have. I have played for the last 50 years and a long time ago I used to
Jam with Gerry Garcia and Gregg Rolie for Journey and Santana. You have to listen to my music to find out I am not
easily categorized.

Sounds like an old Beatles song that they could have written around the time of I Saw Her Standing There. If you liked that sound you'll love this song.
NOTES
I was the lead guitarist for William Penn and His Pals and wrote most of their songs including the cult classic "Swami".
I guess I never grew out of that era and have continued to write in that old vein. I love Doo Wop, 50's and 60's rock, blues, Jazz and anything that requires more skill than just having a computer and a music generating program. I usually play all the instruments, except drums, and …

The Worst Doo Wop Song Ever. Every lyrical and musical cliche possible.
NOTES
My music covers all the bases. Most of my songs are very derivative of the 50's and 60's. I aim to create a new song of the era I am emulating that might have been a hit back then. This is for people who love an era of music and wish that they could get some more of it. This song happens to be one of five Doo Wop songs I've written. Enjoy!

of rock. "I went all over the world for Rock And Roll shoes.... So that you'd think that I was cool"
Sounds little like Eric Clapton meets Creedence Clearwater
NOTES
I come from Palo Alto and was in the thick of it in the 60s when I was a teenager. This is a song that has a message for all Americans. I am a child of the Sixties but this is a protest song about 2000-2013.
NOTES
This is a song about how we appear to be politically a ship without
a captain to guide the way. The waves are forces of corruption and
self interest that will capsize us. We are just aimlessly crossing
an ocean. Here is the Chorus:

To be or not to be, that is the question
To hear or not to hear this song for us.......
How long can we go on in the wrong direction
Like …
